Spiritual Words and Meanings

Spiritual Words and meanings - Are they important?

When I first started being interested in all things spiritual, I remember being so excited finding the religious and spiritual section in the library. (Remember I am old so we didn’t have the internet) the only way to find out things was by reading about it.

I devoured books, and still do to this day. When I first started coming across words such as spirits, and spirit guide and connection and raise vibrations, I got the general idea, but not the specifics. I mean what’s the difference between a spirit and a spirit guide and how can you tell, and what does raising your vibration mean. It sounds lovely and meaningful but what the heck does it actually mean and why should you do it? Some of the books I read were so full of these terms and so unusual that I had no idea what they were on about. spiritually ascend – becoming a warrior of light - What??

This went on for a while, until I asked spirit and they just told me clearly to use the words that work for me personally and ignore terms that don’t resonate with me. Great! That works for me.

So my understanding, is that there can be many words for one thing. This makes sense when you think of it in everyday life. – We have many words for one thing – take “ happy” look it up on a thesaurus and you have – carefree, gleeful, cheerful, merry, joyful and so on.

Spirit Guide to me means someone in spirit who is helping me by giving me information, help, guidance and comfort when I need it.

Raise your vibration – another term I didn’t really get. Until it was explained to me, that I could just think of it as giving out positive vibes. Get rid of the negative thoughts and busyness and just be calm and peaceful and happy. Even if it just for a short time before the world intrudes again. It makes it easier to hear spirit and makes everyone around you happier when you are calm and positive.

That’s the meaning I give to raising your vibration. Again, this is just my interpretation of it.

It comes back to what spirit says, if a word or phrase is meaningful to you then use it, if not use another term or don’t focus on it so much. Just take what is useful and speaks to you and don’t get hung up or worried if a word doesn’t make sense. It doesn't have to, its just a word. That’s my take on it anyway.
